Bush Pilot Registry
Pilot Login:
for pilots who harbour the burning desire to fly in the remote
regions of the world.
There are four forms to complete in the bush pilot registry.
Form one is simply where you register your basic personal and license
information. Fill in the blanks and make sure to complete the mandatory sections marked with a red astrix. Select your user name and password and then submit.
If your name is pre-registered your initial LoginId will be your last name in lowercase,
and your initial password will be password. I suggest you keep your LoginID, but certainly change your password.
If you wish to differentiate yourself from the other Mr. Smith then add your
first name initial at the end.
If you wish to have your complete profile
available to prospective employers then fill in form
two for aircraft types and times. To simplify the process we have broken the
hours down into categories from 0 to 14, with 0 being the default. Fill in the form using the categories that best
match your actual hours.
Form three is to list what types of terrain you have flown in.
Make sure you have flown at least 100 hours in each type you select.
Form one, two, and three will make up what will become
your professional profile. This information will be
searchable to registered airlines.
Form four is a survey questionnaire that
will be used confidentially to find out more about you
and what you want out of your career as a pilot.
Please take the time to fill it out so
we can all benefit from the collective information. This information will
not show up on your profile and will remain confidential. If you are looking for
new opportunities, however, make sure that you fill in the questionnaire.
Although the fact that you may be looking for new employment will be held in confidence from registry users,
the administration at Virtual Horizons
may contact you if any opportunity arises that suits your profile.
It leaves the door open to headhunting, where you would have the option of moving for a price.
Simple right? Well at first glance the process is simple, but proper use
of this registry could become a powerful tool toward forwarding
your career. Being connected is what counts.
That brings us to the second section of the registry.
Airline Registry
Employer Login: for a world that flies
bush planes and hires bush pilots.
There are two forms to fill out for airlines. The first form is again simply
basic data about your company. Please fill in the aircraft types carefully
according to the drop down boxes. If your company operates other aircraft,
please list them in the last box for general information. If you are pre-registered
your initial LoginId will be the first word of your company name in lowercase
(or first two words in sequence if the first word is nondescript, ie "Air", or "South") and your initial password will be password.
Once you register you are free to conduct a search for suitable candidates
that meet your criteria. The more exact you complete the search form the more
likely that you will find a pilot who meets your requirements. Obviously it
will take time to build up the database, so please be patient. The more you
use our services the more we can eventually help.
The eventual endeavor is to list all the active airlines that operate
bush planes and all the qualified pilots that want to fly bush planes
and connect them together. As a Flight Operations Manager and Chief
Pilot for various airlines over the years, I know how frustrating it is to
get hundreds of unsolicited and unsuitable c.v.'s and resumes, and yet
still not be able to find a current resume of a qualified pilot when I need one.
Bush pilots can search for profiles of airlines that fly bush planes
and hire bush pilots. Airlines can search for profiles of bush pilots
who can fly their aircraft and meet their minimum criteria.
Keeping your company profile up to date will be important to insure you
get quality resumes that are applicable to your operation. Aircraft types
are consequentially a very important part to fill out. And please fill out
the questionnaire. This survey will be confidential and will only
be used for statistical purposes.
How to search for email addresses.
Once you have logged in
you can conduct a search by either pilot last name or company name.
Click one of the selections and fill in the "enter your search"
box. This will result in an exact match. If you do not fill in the search box
when searching for pilot names and click submit, then all the profile links will come up.
You can scroll through the data base to find who you are looking for, or find someone you hadn't thought of looking for.
Airline Search
Although there is currently no Boolean search means for pilots to find
specific company profiles, you can find individual company profiles selecting "Pilot Login," selecting "(4)Email
Search," then selecting "By Company Name."
If you know the company name, enter it in the search box
and then click on the search result to view the profile. If you are just doing a general
search then select "By Company Name," but do not enter a search name. Click
on "Submit" and you will get the complete list of companies in the date base.
The key to making this successful, however, is for pilots to be sensible.
Do not immediately dash off a resume to every single employer in the registry. Do a careful
and thoughtful search and make a decision. Decide who you want to work for
and where you want to work and only go after the airlines and areas that
you really believe you would be suitable and qualified for. Do not
scatter gun resumes! Be selective.
Tips & Free Advice
The main purpose of the registry is help bush pilots stay in contact with other
pilots. These profiles are interactive and once you select
your password only you can keep your profile active. Keep your email and address file up to date. Being
connected is what counts.
